The Best Bedroom Purchase Ever!

You guys, it's no secret: I love to eat in bed. There's truly no greater pleasure than watching some trash TV under the covers while inhaling gummy bears (or spaghetti and meatballs). It's also no secret that it drives Brian nuts. But imagine if I stopped doing everything that drives Brian nuts... ;) He thinks it's strange and gross all around, but the mess is especially bothersome (like, coffee all over white sheets or cookie crumbs on his side. Oops.). Well, nearly a decade later, we have a solution!

A few weeks ago, I bought us new sheets and a breakfast tray from Wayfair. Is he thrilled? No. But, we're starting with a clean slate (+ for him), and it's cozier than ever (+ for me). It feels like we're at an indulgent bed and breakfast — another plus since we can't travel anymore until babe arrives.

Our previous sheets were from a department store and at least five times the price. These are softer and a much brighter white, which I love. And the joy this $20 tray brings me is indescribable — why didn't I think of this sooner?!

I also bought these berry bowls because we're going through berries like crazy these days. Raspberries are my favorite food in the world, but I used to really dislike blueberries. I'm not a picky eater, but they're one of the few things I'd pick out of a dish. Since being pregnant, I can't get enough of them! I go through at least three pints of blueberries a week — they seem to taste totally different now. And jazzing them up in these berry bowls makes them extra appealing (and keeps me away from the ice cream pints).

Our bedroom feels like a sanctuary these days (which is nice, since it'll feel like a zoo fairly soon). I've been spending even more time than usual in there, watching an absurd amount of reality TV, writing thank you cards, reading birth stories with one eye closed. On a road trip home last week, I asked Brian where his happy place is. I had asked myself the question a few days earlier, wondering where I should picture to calm myself during labor — my grandparents' house in Iran? The beaches of Italy? The Hamilton stage at the CIBC Theater? He said our house is what came to his mind first. I love that so much.
