Our Wedding: Party

Friday, September 9, 2016

Finally, the reception. First, our guests had cocktails and hors devours on the estate driveway, between our ceremony spot and reception tent. With Chicago-area traffic and a lot of out-of-town guests, having both the ceremony and wedding reception at the same place made everything run so smoothly.

We took a bunch of family portraits following the ceremony, but Abbey, our wedding coordinator at Monte Bello, was so sweet and made sure we still had a plate of food, some water, and gave us a sneak peek of the room being prepped for dinner. The table settings, flowers and candles were absolutely stunning and exactly what I had hoped for. My mom and I sent each other ideas weekly for 19 months and met with our vendors regularly, it was so nice to see our vision come to life and have all the meetings pay off.

Our parents and bridal party's entrance into the dinner room was unreal, people texted me how much they loved it for weeks following. Our DJ suggested they dance in and wait for us on the dance floor before sitting. Once we were announced, a big dance party with our bridal party ensued, and I was on cloud nine. I love all of those people so much, I felt more carefree and happy than ever before.

During dinner, Brian's friend John, my sister and dad gave toasts. They were all so sweet (my dad, a bit cheeky!) and their words filled our hearts with so much love. Following that we did our first dance to "3 Rounds and a Sound" by Blind Pilot, a favorite from the first concert we went to together (we're seeing them again tonight!), then father-daughter and mother-son dances happened before an Iranian knife dance, where my bridesmaids lured Brian into giving them cash in exchange for a knife, so we could cut our cake (the crowd loved that Iranian tradition; one of my friends wants to have a knife dance at her wedding this month, even though neither her or the groom are Iranian!).

I can't think about the party that ensued without a cheesy smile across my entire face (the dance floor was packed all night!). I remember seeing my best friend from England dancing with some friends we made in Chicago a few years ago, and my heart felt so full. Every single person in that room that night means so much to us, and the great lengths people went to share this day with us are unbelievable.

I remember the day after our wedding thinking how life doesn't get much better after the high of your wedding day. Being surrounded by everyone you love so much. However, every day since June 18 has been the best day ever. Being married to Brian has been the greatest gift, and looking back at these photos and remembering that we started married life with the biggest smiles and the most grateful hearts makes me so happy. And remembering the speeches and dances and hugs and tears that were filled with so much love. I will forever cherish these photos and this day.

  3. It was a great responsibility to find the the best wedding planners in Cape Town to make the celebration truly enjoyable. I did it by clicking www.tenthire.capetown, the right place to get tent hire.

  4. The prices were very reasonable, and the flowers were very high quality. The only sustainable florist in New York, believe it or not. The BloomThat Flower Delivery really care about sourcing locally and organically.

  5. H. Venter, the best tent and marquee provider in Cape Town, has always helped me to organise parties and functions by decorating the front yard that satisfied me as a host. Thus, I have handed over the responsibility of installing tents for my wedding reception, and I am truly excited about it.

  8. This is not much simple to manage the weeding RSVP and it will become harder if you have long number of guest for your weeding event, there are various tools are available for managing the weeding RSVP but not everyone knows the better way to how to use RSVP tool for wedding management.
