Camping and Cabinning in Door County, Wisconsin!

Monday, August 1, 2016

A few weekends ago B and I took our new tent to Door County in Wisconsin to test it out during a short, two-day trip. Brian grew up going to Door County every summer, and the last time we went together was four years ago (we stayed in equally charming and terrifying little shack that trip, isolated from all roads and other houses), so we were excited to get back.

The only evidence of my perfect s'mores.

We pitched our tent with a little help from new friends we made at a camp site nearby (a couple that got engaged in their tent later that night!), then headed to town for some firewood, s'more fixings and pizza — the essentials. We spent the rest of the night sipping on beers and canned wine under the brightest stars, with a raccoon that kept showing up and startling me.

The next day we walked around Peninsula State Park and later met up with Brian's dad on his family's boat. While the past two years have been the best of my life, they've been a whirlwind, and this felt like the most relaxing day in ages.

We spent that night eating ice cream cones with scoops the size of our faces and stayed in a cozy cabin-like house before heading home the next day. It was a short trip, but a great one, and we can't wait to take our little tent (appropriately named "Chateau") on lots of other adventures!

  1. Can I just say...I LOVE that you brought pizza with you? LOL So fun!

Also, I'm totally dying to take Povi on his first camping trip. If only Vincas wasn't working so much!!

    1. The pizza looked too good to pass up! And you guys should totally go camping! If you need any supplies, hit us up before buying -- lots of friends have stuff we've borrowed.

  2. That must be a great tent. Would you be so kind to share the name of the tent? I am currently in search of a high performing tent for cold weather camping. I found the Mountain Hardwear Trango here:

  3. People do love camping in the snow. The key to a successful winter camping trip is having the right gear and becoming an informed winter camper.

  4. Very nice picture. love camping. Thanks!
