Roma, Italia! Part II

Saturday, June 14, 2014

And here it is, the final post of Italy photos! Thanks for sticking around and letting me share these. We had such a wonderful time, and reliving it through these posts has been really fun for me.

These guys played chess for hours, and it seemed like they did it in the same place every day, all day.

One of our favorite things about Rome was how seriously they took happy hour, or a drink as an appetizer before a heavy meal. Everyone drank an Aperol Spritz it seemed, and we were more than happy to jump on the bandwagon.

Beautiful candies.

Brian street!

We were so lucky to have a personal tour of St. Peter's Basilica from Brian's friend Conrad. He taught us so much and answered so many questions we had. We were fascinated by it all.

We waited three hours to get into the Vatican Museum (please don't ever make our mistake. Take everyone on the Internet's advice and buy your ticket in advance!), but boy was that Sistine Chapel worth it. I don't think I've ever seen something so beautiful. It blew my mind. Thank you for that, Michelangelo. Oh, and then gelato with whipped cream because DUH.

Orange trees!

We got a liter of wine with our last meal. How could you ever pass it up for six euro?! Puts our cheap Trader Joe's buys to shame.

Oh Italy, we love you! :-)

P.S. Positano parts I and II, Capri and Roma part I
