First Weekend of Spring!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I had the best intentions to write this post on Sunday, but one thing led to another (one episode of Real Housewives of New York led to another), and suddenly it was Sunday night and there was no blog post. I came back to the city from the suburbs late that night and figured I'd get to it then, but I came home to an Internet outage at my apartment, and you know what? There's still no Internet, and there won't be until the weekend. I wish I could tell you my roommate and I have made the most of the situation, talked more, read (read, Ladan, read), made a proper dinner, but we've honestly just whined. So here I am, stealing Brian's internet (popcorn and brownies), sharing some photos from last week's wonderful weekend.

I worked from home on Thursday and Friday, allowing us to Skype family overseas and celebrate the Iranian New Year together. It was such a joyous day, and I wish I could have bottled it up. I love these people with all of my heart (and then some!).

When we first moved to Chicago, and throughout my middle and high school years, my family would often spend the whole weekend in the city, staying at a hotel downtown, making it feel like a vacation. Even though I have an apartment here now, we stayed in a hotel Friday night to celebrate my dad's birthday, and it was such a treat. We ate dinner, walked back to our hotel, lounged in the lobby, went to brunch the next morning and explored through little shops. Two thumbs up for staycations. I can't wait to stay in a different Chicago neighborhood in a few months.

Man, I miss this and this bunch already. I'm ready to recreate it, and thankfully it's almost the weekend again, which means Internet again! You can't imagine how crabby I've been while trying to fix it. Oh, what's that? You can?

Have a good rest of your week, my loves! Thanks for indulging me and letting me share these photos. It means a lot. xx.
