Christel's Wedding!

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

In just three months my friend Christel and her now-husband Jan planned a beautiful, simple wedding. After a year abroad, they're in the U.S. only briefly until they figure out their next move.

There's something so exciting about seeing your childhood friends tie the knot that doesn't exist at other weddings. I've known Christel since we were awkward preteen girls. Seeing her look so mature and elegant with someone who she loves so much, vowing to spend the rest of her life with him, and seeing the excitement in his eyes was so special. Below are some photos from their beautiful day.

^^ One of the benefits of going to weddings with those you went to high-school dances with is pretending they're high-school dances.

^^ Christel's grandpa had the whole crowd singing (some on "stage!") a song called Mrs. Murphy's Chowder, while her grandma played the accordion. Everyone kept messing up and saying things at the wrong time. It was hilarious then and in our heads days after.

^^ In high school the six of us would get together at each others' houses and almost always find ourselves dancing to "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield at the end of the night. At the wedding the DJ played it for us and the rest of the guests cleared the floor. So many sweet memories.

And then the photo booth happened because, duh.

A beautiful couple, a beautiful day. Welcome to the family, Jan :-)

  1. Love love love the pictures! Especially the Jessie's girl pictures and the awesome one of Brian and Alex on the dance floor.

  2. I think you had booked a wonderful banquet hall for your wedding. Hey I am searching for a good Chicago Venues for my wedding anniversary. If you have any suggestions please tell me.
