Washington, D.C.

I'll stop talking about last weekend's trip to D.C. after this post, promise. It was just so fun, and so nice to see our friend Matt and meet his boyfriend, Andrew (and new puppy, Aiden!). They were the best hosts. I mean, Andrew made us homemade ice cream and waffles.

I've been to D.C. a couple of times before, and I've loved it every time. It's such a beautiful, important city, with so much to see. Unfortunately, on our last day there, there was a shooting at Washington Navy Yard, which put parts of the city on lock-down. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. Such ugliness isn't deserved in that graceful city (or anywhere, actually).

I have at least 50 photos of Matt posing throughout the weekend. The subway shots are my favorite, but I'll spare you.

We went to the Newseum, a museum tracing the history of news and journalism from the 16th century to present day. Outside the museum, every day, they have the front page of every major, domestic newspaper. Inside, they have the front page of the largest daily papers around the world. I was in heaven. We also did our own broadcast, and I wish so much that we had videotaped it. Fareeha and mine was of course terrible, but Matt and Brian's was hilarious.

Have you played Heads Up Charades on your phone before? It provided hours of entertainment. We also managed to sneak in some sightseeing before we left on Monday. We saw all of the first ladies' inauguration dresses at the National Museum of American History. Probably not Brian's favorite part of the trip, but he saw the IRS building, so we're even. ;-)

  1. Newseum and the IRS. Yup, it was a Brian and Ladz trip for sure! I love the serious news team shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTSmYA9AyZU
