Elise's Wedding!

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

I've always wanted to go to a small, backyard wedding, mostly because my parents had a small wedding. My mom borrowed her sister-in-law's dress, and less than 10 people came to a little courthouse in Leeds, England, to watch them tie the knot. They're still glad they did this, and I admire them for it. Then, and even worse now, there's pressure to throw a huge party. But to them the wedding was about the lifetime they would spend together — and they'd rather spend the little cash they had on a honeymoon in Rome.

Elise and Stephen are the same. Their wedding in Virginia last weekend was intimate, spiritual and laid back, exactly how I'd describe their relationship. I had such a wonderful time and felt privileged to witness their new life together start. He really loves her, and she really loves him. It's so magical to watch.

How cute was my date???? :-)

The reception was at Elise's neighbor's house. Perhaps the most beautiful garden I've ever seen. So much space, beautiful flowers and chickens (!!!)! It was the perfect backdrop to their beautiful day and catching up with some old friends.

I wasn't kidding! Do you see the chickens in the background?!

Wishing these two a lifetime of happiness together!
