Thrift Shop Party

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Sara and I threw a thrift shop party last Saturday as an excuse to play Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" on repeat. We invited a few friends, ate some snacks and drank some drinks. We usually like to provide a few dishes and create our own cocktails for parties, but we kept this one as simple as we could. And appreciative as our guests usually are of our efforts at hors d'oeuvres, they seemed just as happy with the popcorn and PBR. We'll be repeating this theme even after the song is off the charts.

Sara made vanilla cupcakes with price tags and hangers on the frosting. We didn't make appetizers, but she couldn't completely let go.

Even though I grew up in a close by suburb, went to college in a neighboring state and still can't get over living far away from those I love, I've managed to meet a lot of new people in the past year, and I'm thankful to be keeping old friends and making new ones. Gatherings like this where different groups come together have always been so exciting to me. There are few things greater than a room filled with those that make you happiest.

Between the rapping and dancing, there was no shortage on entertainment.

Thanks for coming, guys! Already looking forward to getting together again soon. xx.
